Once upon a time, many moons ago, there lived four alicorn princesses, who together, ruled benevolently over the two small kingdoms of Solus and Twilight. Together, they each carried a special breed of magic— fire, water, light, and darkness, given to them by the gods of time and reality.

Ember, Drizzle, Luminous and Somber— together they led their people into the future, knowing one day they would be expected to return their magic to the gods once they had attained harmony.

But one of the princesses sought to find a way to preserve their power— the princess of darkness, Somber. She knew that without their powers, their kingdoms would fall, so one night, she sneaks below the castle, into the chamber of the gods, shrouded in the darkness of night, before willfully and permanently sealing the only means of contact with their gods.

Once the other three sisters comprehended what Somber had done, they were rightfully angered with the choice their sister made, knowing there would be dire consequences, and together regretfully banished their sister to the wastelands, never to return.

But Somber still held her head high as she left, somehow knowing in her heart that she had made the right choice.

She now wanders the Wastelands, with her only companions— her familiars, following behind.
